Since I took illustration as my specialist area, I have thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of projects that have been available to me as they each require different techniques and ideas to produce it to the best possible standard. The imagination needed in illustration is very fitting for the style in which I work as I generally like to combine traditional sketches with a touch of surrealism to create my own unique and personal effect to my work. I gain inspiration from the outside world in which I try to implement into my own work, whether it is the earthy colours of nature or looking at constructed and natural form, I think each factor has a significant part in the style my work.
The work I have chosen to include in my digital portfolio expresses varied techniques and themes in order to reflect my personal skill and ideas. I have shown variety in my illustrations by including a range of different materials and concepts which I feel portrays the type of work I am capable of.
Going to university will open up new experiences for me and new ideas from which I can improve my skills in various aspects of illustration. Through this course I would like to improve my animation skill as after I created a small animation, it has sparked a new interest and I feel it could also open up new career opportunities in the future. I am extremely passionate about illustration and I put all my effort and time into everything I do and it is this motivation which encourages me to go to university and take another step into my future career.
